Pathway to College
The EdReady Montana Pathway to College Program
Program Summary
The EdReady Montana Pathway to College program is a free, personalized, online learning platform designed to help students master the essential math and English skills required for success in college-level coursework and future careers.
It’s a powerful, adaptive tool that works by:
- Assessing: Students begin with a diagnostic test in their chosen subject (Math or English).
- Personalizing: EdReady immediately identifies the student’s existing knowledge and any specific learning gaps.
- Pathfinding: A customized study path is created, focusing only on the topics a student needs to master.
- Mastering: Students work through their personalized modules at their own pace, using a variety of resources, until they reach a target “ready” score.

The program’s goal is to help students avoid costly and time-consuming remedial courses in college, ensuring they are placed directly into credit-bearing classes. It’s a proven method for improving readiness, building confidence and successfully passing college-level math classes.
How Schools Use Pathway to College
Montana schools utilize Pathway to College in a variety of flexible and effective ways to support student success and ensure smooth transitions to post-secondary education:
- Math and English Placement: EdReady scores are often used by Montana’s colleges and universities to determine appropriate math and English course placement. By using EdReady, our students can work toward the required college-ready score while still in high school, securing better placement before they even enroll.
- Whole class Instruction or teacher-led small group review sessions – Use of EdReady resources to efficiently teach or review a concept before kicking off a lesson or moving on to practice problems.
- Skill Supplementation and Gap-Filling: Teachers use EdReady to provide individualized support to students who need to revisit foundational skills from previous grade levels or supplement their learning in a current course. Usually less than 30 minutes a week to supplement classroom instruction.
- ACT/SAT Prep: The program’s content can be aligned with standardized testing, giving students a customized way to review and practice key math and English concepts for college entrance exams. <link to standardized test prep EdReady program>
Dual Credit Preparation: EdReady can prepare students for the academic rigor of dual-credit courses, ensuring they have the prerequisite knowledge to succeed.
