EdReady for Standardized Test Preparation

EdReady Montana: Your Personalized Engine for Test Readiness

Preparing for high-stakes exams doesn’t have to mean generic review books or ineffective cram sessions. EdReady Montana offers a dynamic, personalized solution that focuses preparation exactly where your students need it most, ensuring they master the foundational skills required to succeed on college, career, and state-level standardized tests.

Program Summary: Targeted Test Prep at No Cost

EdReady Montana is a free, adaptive online learning platform that empowers students to achieve mastery in the core Math and English skills necessary for a wide range of exams. Instead of wasting time on concepts they already know, students get a customized study path that accelerates their journey to exam readiness.

EdReady offers specific preparation goals for key standardized tests, including:

  • College Entrance: ACT Math & English, SAT Math & English.
  • High School Equivalency: HiSET, GED Math.
  • State & Placement Exams: MAST, NWEA MAP (Skill Alignment), Common Core, and College Placement exams.
Student reads book lying on a desk.

How It Works:

  1. Low-Stakes Diagnostic: Students take a short assessment aligned with their target exam (e.g., ACT, HiSET, etc.).
  2. Skill-Gap Analysis: EdReady instantly identifies the student’s current proficiency and flags the precise knowledge gaps they need to fill.
  3. Personalized Study Path: The system generates a custom path with videos, practice problems, and learning resources only for the topics the student missed.
  4. Mastery and Readiness: Students work at their own pace until they achieve the required EdReady Target Score, certifying their readiness for the foundational content of the official test.

How Schools Use EdReady to Propel Students to College

Schools integrate EdReady into their test-prep strategies to create efficient and equitable pathways to post-secondary success:

  • ACT/SAT Score Improvement: EdReady pinpoints the specific prerequisite math and English skills required for the ACT/SAT and provides targeted instruction. This addresses the root cause of low scores (skill gaps) rather than just teaching test-taking strategies.
  • The high school programs take on several formats:
    • In class supplement (often less than 30 minutes a week for the whole year or spring semester).
    • Study hall or co-requisite class practice time
    • Formal test prep courses or programs
    • Math lab time before/after school or during lunch or “zero period”.
    • Through intervention specialists or programs
  • College Placement Bypass: For students using EdReady for College Readiness, achieving the mastery goal can often lead to direct placement into credit-bearing college courses at Montana universities, saving students significant time and tuition costs on remedial classes.
  • Targeted State Assessment Review (MAST, NWEA MAP, etc): Educators use EdReady to align instruction with learning objectives identified by state exams. By focusing on the knowledge gaps revealed by the EdReady diagnostic, teachers can better prepare students for success on the MAST or improve their RIT score projections on NWEA MAP.
  • HiSET/GED Fast-Track: Adult learners and high school students seeking equivalency use the specialized HiSET/GED goals to focus their study, leading to faster, more confident testing and graduation.

College Placement Support

Avoid remedial math at a Montana College or University

A soon to graduate high school student with minimal math class grades completes the ACT Prep diagnostic before graduation…identifying gaps that would place that student below college level math.

Student completes the goal then uses EdReady placement at the college and skips 1-3 semesters of developmental math, and enrolls directly in College Algebra, saving thousands in tuition.

Data That Drives Results

EdReady provides comprehensive, real-time data for both students and educators, making it a powerful tool for data-driven instruction:

  • Student Score Increases: Studies show that students who reach the EdReady target score and enroll at Montana Universities are significantly more likely to succeed and achieve higher final course grades in their first college math courses compared to non-users.
  • Actionable Reporting: Instructors can view detailed reports showing which students are struggling with which specific topics, enabling targeted intervention and group instruction.
  • Focus on Proficiency-Based Mastery: The platform tracks student progress from “Not Ready” to “Mastered” for every topic, ensuring students don’t move forward until they’ve solidified the foundational knowledge needed for the test.
