EdReady for Adult and Correctional Education

EdReady Montana: Your Path to a Brighter Future

EdReady Montana provides a free, personalized, and self-paced learning platform designed specifically to meet the diverse educational goals of adult learners across the state, including those in Adult Education Centers and Correctional Facilities.

Program Summary

EdReady is a powerful adaptive learning tool that removes the guesswork from adult education and reentry preparation. It serves as an essential bridge, helping individuals quickly gain the foundational Math and English skills needed for high school equivalency, college, or a new career.

How It Works:

  1. Diagnostic Assessment: The learner takes a low-stakes, self-assessment (Knowledge Inventory) to quickly determine their current proficiency level.
  2. Personalized Study Path: EdReady instantly analyzes the results and creates a customized study plan that focuses only on the concepts the learner has not yet mastered.
  3. Targeted Instruction: The learner follows their path, engaging with multimedia resources, videos, and practice problems to achieve skill mastery and their educational goal.
  4. Content Presented in Age-Appropriate Manner: Even the most basic math and English concepts are presented in a way that speaks to adolescents and/or adult learners.
  5. Secure Access to High Quality Content: EdRead content is presented individually to each learner.  There is secure access to content designed for each student and no student to student contact within the learning system.

This focused approach allows adult learners to efficiently learn at their own pace, bypass material they already know, and accelerate their progress toward critical milestones.

How Programs Use EdReady for College & Career Pathways

Adult Education Centers and Correctional Facilities leverage EdReady Montana to align instruction with high-demand outcomes:

  • High School Equivalency (HiSET/GED) Preparation: EdReady offers goals specifically aligned with the math and English skills required to pass the HiSET/GED exams, providing targeted study that saves valuable time.
  • Adult Basic Education (ABE) and NRS Level Gains: Programs use EdReady to diagnose skills for accurate placement and track National Reporting System (NRS) educational functioning level gains, demonstrating measurable progress for accountability and funding.
  • Distance Learning Hours: EdReady allows Adult Education teams to track “distance learning hours” for busy students who are unable to consistently attend face to face sessions at their adult education learning centers.
  • College Placement and Readiness: For individuals planning to enroll in the Montana University System or local colleges, EdReady offers college-aligned goals.  After attaining their HiSET or GED, mastery of these goals can help learners place directly into credit-bearing college math and English courses, bypassing costly and time-consuming developmental classes.
  • Career Pathway Skills: Upon passing their HiSET/GED, customized Career Pathways goals target the prerequisite math skills needed for specific trade and technical certifications across fields like Healthcare, Construction Trades, and Business, making education immediately relevant to workforce reentry.

Data & Recidivism Reduction

EdReady provides administrators and instructors with real-time, actionable data to monitor progress and celebrate achievement, which is crucial for motivation and accountability in adult and correctional education.

  • Measurable Gains: The platform tracks time on task, topic mastery, and overall score increases, providing concrete evidence of learning for funding reports and reentry portfolios.
  • High Engagement: The self-paced, mastery-based system is inherently rewarding, fostering the grit and self-efficacy essential for sustained academic success and long-term reentry.
  • Reduced Barriers: By making educational progress more efficient and directly tied to employment/college goals, EdReady serves as a vital component in educational programs aimed at reducing recidivism and promoting successful community reintegration. A Montana Juvenile Detention Center student, for example, reported an increase from “first grade math to… eleventh” through EdReady, which “prepared me to graduate.”
